Does my baby need a ticket?

For events marked All Ages or Families you can bring your baby (under 12 months old) with you for free, they do not need a ticket.

What should I pay for ‘pay what you can’ tickets?

You choose which pricing option is best for you (minimum price £2). Think about what the performance is worth to you and what you can afford then book a ticket.

Some guidelines on what you might choose to pay.

  • £2 anyone who could not afford to come if they paid more

  • £4 - £7 anyone who would usually buy a concession priced ticket

  • £8 - £9 anyone who would usually buy full price tickets

  • Over £9 anyone who would like to make sure ticket prices remain accessible to as many people as possible.

Do you have family or group tickets?

For selected family shows all tickets are £4 or £14 for a group of four people. For some workshops there is also family pricing of £3 per person.

Why do events say sold out but when I attend there are spaces?!

We know this can feel frustrating, especially when tickets are hard to get for some events. There are several different reasons that contribute to this.

  • We have very small capacity events compared to a theatre, sometimes everyone attends and there are less people than you would expect due to flat seating and the need for everyone to see well, fire regulations on numbers of people in the building, the number of people that a workshop artist can support.

  • People who booked tickets do not come and do not cancel their tickets. This happens a lot with workshop sessions and is why we ask to please contact us if you cannot attend. We often have waiting lists and can contact people even on the day of an event.

I've booked a ticket but I can no longer attend!

If you cannot attend, please let us know as soon as possible. Places are limited and there is often a waiting list. It’s helpful to know even if it is the day of the event. Contact us even if you do not wish to have a refund.

To obtain a refund automatically you must inform us at least 7 days before the activity takes place. Exceptional circumstances will be considered with less than 7 days notice.

  • 7 days before (or more) go to your confirmation email and choose ‘manage my booking’ this will take you to TicketSource where you can request a refund.

  • Anytime before the event phone 01223 706779 (Monday – Friday 10am – 12pm & 2pm – 3pm)

  • Anytime before the event email : thelibrarypresents@cambridgeshire.gov.uk

To inform us if you cannot attend:

  • Call: 01223 706779 (Monday – Friday 10am – 12pm & 2pm – 3pm)

  • Email: thelibrarypresents@cambridgeshire.gov.uk

I have a service animal, can I bring them?

Yes. Service animals are welcome. We have flexible seating and can easily accomodate you.

I use a wheelchair / mobility aid, where will I be seated?

Seating is arranged with freestanding chairs so we will keep a space with a good view free for you. If you prefer a different location when you arrive we can usually accommodate this.

I need a hearing loop, how do I make sure one is available?

Some events have hearing loops as standard - if the event has a hearing loop already you can add a hearing loop at the checkout as an ‘option’ / sundry item.

If an event doesn’t have a hearing loop advertised email us with 10 days notice and we will do our best to arrange one for you. If we cannot arrange one we will offer you a refund. TheLibraryPresents@Cambridgeshire.gov.uk

Can I leave my child (12+yrs) at a workshop or performance?

Other Answers

How can I get involved in choosing events for the next season?

Join the mailing list so you get the link to the menu to choose events from when it is available.

How are the events paid for with the ticket prices so low?

All tickets for the programme are subsidised by our National Portfolio Organisation funding from Arts Council England.

To cover basic costs without the funding one ticket would cost between £20 and £70. Our highest ticket price is £8.50. This is to keep events accessible to as many people as possible.

Are the artists paid or do they do this for free?

All artists are paid a full fee. We use arts sector good practice guidance to set the fees that are offered to artists through our open call process. These fees are reviewed annually.

The Library Presents currently pays up to £300 for one workshop and up to £1000 for one performance.
