Beaty Rubens, a BBC Radio producer for 35 years, has recently curated a major exhibition at the Bodleian Library in Oxford and written a book called Listen In: How Radio Changed the Home.
She will be talking about the origins of the project in her own family story, about her wide-ranging research and about a thrilling discovery in the archives of the Bodleian Library which has expanded knowledge of the impact of radio in its golden age and provoked new questions about its connections with how new technologies affect us all today.
Come and join Beaty, plus enjoy some items about the history of radio from the Cambridgeshire Collection, and maybe a couple of original gramophone records, too!
Free event, please book here: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/listen-in-how-radio-changed-the-home-tickets-1602072595259
Cash donations will be gratefully received on the day, to help fund future library events.
The event is kindly supported by the Friends of Milton Road Library.
